In 1986 Wang Kiu gave me a photo of four good friends and early students of Ip Man to be included in our upcoming “Wing Chun Viewpoint” newsletter and also to use for a Black Belt Magazine ad for an upcoming seminar where all of the four masters together would give a seminar where each master would talk about their specialty in Wing Chun.

From left to right are Masters: Tsui Shan Ting (Chu Shong Tin), Lok Yiu, Wang Kiu and Wong Shun Leung.

At the time of the photo, the first official student of Ip Man by the name of Leung Sheung had already died.

The first three disciples of Ip Man (Yip Man) in Hong Kong from left to right: Lok Yiu and was known as the king of the Chum Kiu (the second Wing Chun form). Leung Sheung was the first disciple, never promoted his school and had a very peculiar phrase that said; "if you find me, you're lucky" he was known as the king of the Biu Gee (the third Wing Chun form). Choo Shong Tin was known as the king of Siu Nim Tao (the first Wing Chun form) for his high understanding in the internal aspect of the Wing Chun system.
